Based in Lausanne
Maya Rochat is a visual artist exploring photography, painting, installation and performance. Working in-situ, in and outside traditional institutions, her work reflects an artistic interest in the organic language, expressed by different mediums ; whether it is analogic or digital, figurative or abstract, printed or moving.
Her works are presented in institutions of great significance such as Maison Européenne de la Photographie Paris, Tate Modern, Palais de Tokyo, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Quartier Général, Bâtiment pour l’Art Contemporain Génève or Locarno Film Festival.
She performed at the Tate’s South Tank,Victoria Hall de Genève, KKL in luzern, at FOAM & ADE in Amsterdam, at Musée des Beaux-arts de Lausanne, Musée des Abattoirs de Toulouse, Arsenic Lausanne and Grand théâtre de Genève.
Maya Rochat is the laureate of the Prix AMP 2022, of the Prix Moblière 2019, of the Fondation Leenaards Grant in 2018 and the Abraham Hermanjat Grant in 2017. 2009 : Prix de l’ECAL for exellence of the work for the work « Es stinkt der Mensch, solang er lebt »
